Halloween Week: Scary movies

For us, a big part of Halloween is watching scary movies. Although, when I say "scary", you should probably take that with a bucket of salt. We don't really do blood, guts and gore at our house, but much prefer something creepy and suspenseful. Or really quirky.

Remember Eerie, Indiana?

We're working our way through the series, and it is turning out to be the perfect lead-up to Halloween; light, funny, yet oddly creepy for something aimed at children. I definitely recommend checking it out!

A few other titles for later in the week:

What movies will you be watching this Halloween?

All images borrowed from Netflix, except Buffy, because Netflix's version was LAME.

  1. I LOOOOOOVED Eerie, Indiana when I was a kid! I will have to watch it again!

My personal favorite creepy movies include:
    1) The Burbs
    2) Hocus Pocus (cheesy, I know)
    3) The Goonies

    Ahhhh, Halloween! I love it!

  2. I am way too much of a wimp for scary movies. I guess we could watch some M. Night Shyamalan?? :)

  3. rather you than me, I literally can't take anything remotely creepy, it'll have me awake at nights counting the creeks in my stairs!

  4. Ditto to the Eeerie Indiana comments. I loved the episode about staying forever young by sleeping in giant tupperware and the one about the boy with gray hair, or was he a regular?

Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories mini-series. Some too-good-to-be-true 80's style and slang mixed with cautionary tales. Some spooky ones too.

  5. Might I suggest:

The Changeling (the George C. Scott picture, not "Changeling" with Angelina Jolie). WONDERFUl ghost story. The best I've ever seen - and it's from 1980!

Practical Magic - this fits with your light, but somewhat creepy theme. And it has Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as witch sisters!
